If you're looking to join the brothers of the night in Oblivion Remastered, check out our guide on how to acquire Vampirism and cure the disease.

Vampirism is an affliction that doesn't plague too many characters in Oblivion Remastered, but it does come with its own benefits and restrictions. As a vampire, you'll be constantly harmed by the sun and forced to only wander Cyrodiil during the nighttime hours. Being a vampire also comes with perks, such as various resistances, abilities, and other strengths, so you have to weigh the pros and cons to decide if you want to become or remain a vampire.

Of course, becoming a vampire isn't always the player's choice in Oblivion Remastered. There are a couple of ways to become a creature of the night, and if you don't want to be a vampire, then you'll need to know how to cure the affliction and return to a regular being. For those of you who want to become a vampire but don't know how, you'll need to understand the different ways to acquire the affliction.

How to Become a Vampire in Oblivion Remastered

First up, let's go over the main ways you can become a vampire in Oblivion Remastered. The primary way to acquire vampirism is by getting bitten by a vampire, which can either be a mutual exchange of blood or a situation that you didn't plan.

We can start with the most straightforward way to become a vampire, which involves you allowing a specific vampire to bite you, immediately turning you into a creature of the night. The vampire that does this for you is named Vicente Valtieri, and he is a Breton whom you'll report to for missions once you join the Dark Brotherhood. We have a full guide on how to join the Dark Brotherhood in Oblivion Remastered, so check that out if you're not already a member.

To get bitten by Vicente Valtieri, you'll need to prove your worth to him by completing several Dark Brotherhood contracts and reporting back to him with successful news. Your disposition with Vicente Valtieri also needs to be above 30 for him to ask, so you can check that by using the persuasion wheel in dialogue with him.

In the guide below, we'll go over how to get vampirism and how to cure vampirism in Oblivion Remastered.

Vicente Valtieri only asks you to become a vampire after you have completed The Assassinated Man contract for the Dark Brotherhood, which is the fifth contract for the faction in Oblivion Remastered. Once that's done and you're not already a vampire, Vicente Valtieri will ask you if you want to become one.

If you say yes, Vicente Valtieri will tell you to go to sleep, and he'll come bite you at some point during the night, turning you into a half-vampire. You'll then need to wait three days to become a full vampire. You'll know if you are a vampire by checking the status effects portion of the character menu in Oblivion Remastered and seeing the affliction "Porphyric Hemophilia." You'll also have a Vampirism spell in the magic menu.

If you don't want to go through the Dark Brotherhood to become a vampire, you'll have to find a random vampire somewhere else in Cyrodiil. However, they're quite difficult to find. The best location to search is Barren Cave, which always has vampires roaming around in it. Just approach any vampire you see, let them attack you, and you'll gain the Porphyric Hemophilia affliction.

How to Cure Vampirism in Oblivion Remastered

Now that you have vampirism, you might want to get rid of it sooner rather than later. There are two ways to cure vampirism in Oblivion Remastered, and they are as follows:

  • Go to the Font of Renewal location, or

  • Complete the Vampire Cure side quest

If you want to cure your vampirism fast, choose the Font of Renewal option, as the Vampire Cure quest is extremely lengthy and takes an hour or two.

You can begin the Vampire Cure quest after becoming a vampire by speaking to Raminus Polus at the Arcane University. He'll send you to Skingrad Castle, and from there, you need to find a plethora of different ingredients for a woman named Melisande, who makes the cure potion for you.

On the flip side, going to the Font of Renewal is much quicker to get rid of your vampirism. You can find the object at Deepscorn Hollow, which is located in the southeastern part of Cyrodiil, southeast of Leyawiin and just above Topol Bay. At Deepscorn Hollow, you'll find it's actually a small island, and when you go on the patch of land, you'll immediately begin a new quest called "Deepscorn Hollow."

Activate this quest through your journal and follow the quest markers underwater to enter a large log at the bottom of the lake. Go through the log to find a door that brings you inside Deepscorn Cloister. Keep following your quest marker to eventually reach the Font of Renewal, which is a large pillar inside a small circle of water.

Inside this room, go to the back corner of the room to find the Purgeblood Crystal Formation and interact with it. This allows you to loot some Purgeblood Salts, which you can then use to interact with the Font of Renewal to cure your vampirism.

After that, your vampirism is gone in Oblivion Remastered, and you can now return to walking in the sunlight around Cyrodiil.
